Set in the 1960s, 2 couples (one married at their wits end, and another nauseatingly obsessed with one another) travel to Italy with a whole host of other cooky characters, meeting new ones along the way. Arguments ensue and a prank goes wrong.
Keeping it short. I wasn’t ever too interested in what happened next. The cast weren’t cooky enough to warrant the confusion of plots and relationships. Or were they too cooky? I finished the book confused and a bit bored :/ Feel bad saying it, I guess on a positive note the writing style was sweet and girlish and clever.
Some nice recurring motifs, like scenes in which characters riffed on improbable lines in their Italian language guide: E.g.
Barber, I’d like all my hair shaven off.
Barbiere, vorrei avere tutti i capelli rasati.
