absolutely and forever
Hopeful young woman turns wrongly apathetic adult, accidentally steering others into her personal confusion.
The kindest co-worker lent me this book! And it is now making its way through to other readers. So the literary love has been shared.
I read this book at record speed. I read it so quickly, and it was such a whirlwind, that I then immediately discussed it with friends, and forgot almost everything I thought about it instantly. Oops! Here’s what I do remember:
This was like watching a full season of a weirdly serious soap 🙂
I read the whole thing on my journey from Siracusa to Noto, in Sicilly. I wanted entertainment on the coach, it was a grey day, and it had been sunny for the whole trip, so I wasn’t in the best of spirits.
The main character is a flawed and unhappy person. But she had real hope and humour in her youth, and I think she carries it forward the best way she can. I was entertained. I don’t need to agree with the internal logic of the main character to be entertained.
If you’re in just the right mood, then every couple of chapters, you can do some shocked gasping. I did. It just kept getting worse! Slash better! Slash – what was going on?!
